The promotion support effect component of the direct demand model for REG in SAS® High-Performance Markdown Optimization does not work properly and should not be used. The PS_* variables are not correctly aggregated. If you include promotion support effects in your model, then incorrect results might occur. For example, resulting effects always equal 0, or always equal the default value.
You can turn off the promotion support effect functionality by setting the ‘PS’ model specification to 0.
There is no workaround for this issue. However, you might get good estimates without using the promotion support effect if your promotion supports are directly correlated with price.
